Mr. Gautam Banerjee 

MCh, DNB, FRCS (Urol), FEBU

Gautam was appointed as a Consultant Urological Surgeon to Ipswich Hospital in 2002.

He obtained his MBBS degree and basic general surgical training leading to MS degree from Lucknow University in India. He underwent 4 years of specialist training in Urology from Post Graduate Institute Lucknow which led to the award of Mch and DNB in Urology. Subsequently he came to the UK and underwent further five years of higher surgical specialist training in Urology under East of Scotland Training Scheme. He also obtained FRCS(Urol) and FEBU degrees during that period.

Gautam has interest in all aspects of General Urology and Urological cancers. He has special interest in Stones and the use of minimally invasive techniques. He has established experience in the use of LASER treatments especially for urinary tract stones, bladder and kidney cancer and prostate disease.  He also has special interest in Laparoscopic surgery and Andrology (male infertility).

Mr. Robert Brierly
MB BS MSc  MA(Med Ed) FRCS(Eng) FRCS(Urol)

Rob was appointed as Consultant Urological Surgeon to Ipswich Hospital in 2005 

He attended St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical College in London and completed his undergraduate training in 1993. Following basic surgical training, Rob underwent a period of research studying bladder dysfunction in Brighton which led to the award of MSc from University of London. 

Subsequently he underwent specialist training in Urology in London and the South-east scheme. This included attachments at Guys and St Thomas's Hospital, London and Brighton University Hospitals, as well as Fellowship training in Australia.

Rob has been Ipswich Urology Cancer lead and MDT Chair since 2007. He has been co-chair of the Anglia Regional Urology cancer network.He also has a passion for teaching and training and is Director of Medical Education and an Associate Medical Director at Ipswich Hospital, responsible for overseeing postgraduate training as well as medical students from Cambridge and Norwich that have placements in Ipswich. He recently completed a Masters Degree in Medical Education.

Robert has interests in all aspects of Adult General Urology including urological cancers. He has specialist interest in treatment of prostate and bladder cancer and also treatment of male and female urinary disorders including infections, bladder pain and incontinence surgery and prostate problems.
